Q: How much will I get paid?
A: We pay contributors based on the number of readers of their work at the rate of $2.50 per thousand page views for a one-year period beginning with the date of original publication. [top]

Q: How do you calculate the number of readers?
A: We count the number of views for pages featuring your writing. Please note that pages featuring teases or advertisements for your contribution do not count toward your total number of page views. [top]

Q: When do I get paid and for how long?
A: We will pay you at the end of each month. We will continue to pay you for page views each month up to one year from the date of original publication. [top]

Q: What happens if very few people are reading old or archived content?
A: For any month that we owe you less than $25, we will roll the balance over until the total reaches $25. At the end of the one-year period following publication, we will pay you any outstanding balance, no matter how small. [top]

Q: Can I publish my work in other venues?
A: Yes. One year after initial publication, you may re-publish your piece in any venue as long as the credit “First published on CarnalNation.com” appears with it. You own the copyright to your words, but we retain a perpetual license to re-use your work. [top]

Q: What happens if you syndicate my article outside the CarnalNation network?
A: If we publish your work in any venue outside the CarnalNation network (e.g., a print magazine), we will pay you 40% of the fee we receive. This applies at any time and is not limited to the one-year period of payment for page views described above. [top]

Q: How long will my work be available on your site?
A: All content published on CarnalNation sites will be available in an archive indefinitely. [top]

Q: If my work is published on only one site in the CarnalNation network, will I get paid for readers from other sites in the network?
A: Yes. We syndicate all general content on CarnalNation.com and, thus, make it available on all city-specific sites. Content that is specific to a single location (e.g., a review of a theatrical production or art exhibition) can be accessed by readers from anywhere in the CarnalNation network. We will pay you for readers from any of our sites. [top]

Q: Why do you need my real name and social security number?
A: We must report the payments made to contributors to the IRS under your legal name and social security number, even if you write under an alias. Before we can pay you, we must have a current Form W-9 on file. Each year we will send you a Form 1099 listing your total earnings for that year from CarnalNation. All information contained on these forms remains confidential. We won’t share your real name with readers without your express permission. [top]

Q: Will I be able to track my own readership numbers?
A: Yes, we will make online statistics available to contributors. [top]
