Sex Theme Park to Open in China

Love Land. a theme park dedicated entirely to human sexuality, will open in October in Chonqing along the Yangtze River. The park will feature sculptures of the naked human body, giant replicas of genitalia, an extensive photo exhibition about the history of sex, and workshops devoted to teaching sex techniques. Lu Xiaoqing, park manager, said that the park will Chinese men and women "enjoy a harmonious sex life." He added, "Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it." However, there has been quite a bit of criticism from the normally reserved Chinese public, most calling the park vulgar. "These things are too exposed" Liu Daiwei, a policewoman in Chongqing, said. "I will feel uncomfortable to look at them when other people are around." One individual wrote in a post on a popular news portal, "These vulgar sex installments will only make people sick." Lu is ready for the controversy, but he hopes the park will generate more discussion than criticism. He notes, "I have found that the majority of people support my idea but I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty."
