Some people cling to their ignorance with the determination of a three-year-old who just won't let go of his or her teddy bear. This Wednesday The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck, gave a good example of how comfy she is with the old stereotype of lesbians—especially older lesbians—as being unattractive or desperate. When the panel on The View discussed a recent study showing that many older women are beginning their same-sex relationships in middle age or later, Hasselbeck had the answer:
"I'll tell you what's going on. A lot of older men are going for younger women, leaving the women with no one."
