Gay Marriage & Transgender Rights: "Inexpedient to Legislate"

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports that the NH Senate Judiciary Committee expressed its opposition to three closely watched bills: same-sex marriage, transgender rights, and a repeal of the death penalty. All three bills have passed the NH House, although the transgender rights bill was at first voted down by legislators but was later reconsidered and passed. The transgender rights bill was unanimously opposed by the five-member committee. A vote of 3-2 was recorded for the same-sex marriage bill, which garners it an "Inexpedient to Legislate" recommendation. The entire Senate will now vote on all three bills. The vote should take place by tomorrow.
