Scent of a Woman: The New Vulva Original Roll-On (NSFW)

Vulva Original promises to be a new, irresistible vaginal scent made of organic content which comes in a convenient roll-on applicator.

Their site smellmeand.com states prominently that it is not a perfume but a feminine, erotic intimate scent for your own smelling pleasure. Applied onto the back of the hand, the smell claims to intensify your erotic fantasies and start the film rolling in your head. So breathe it in and enjoy – anytime, anywhere.

When asked why he designed this new scent, Guido Lenssen said:

lq.php?p=K1g&q=AV8 The sense of smell as a human being is important and very underrated. When you’re in restaurant, you always ask how does the food taste, but you never discuss the smell. When I am with my wife, I prefer her natural body smell to other smells like perfume. The intimacy of her scent is important. In the erotic market I realised you can buy billions of sex toys but they’re all about touching or seeing or hearing. I wanted to address this sense of smell on the market. rq.png

Will there be other, similar products, you might ask? Perhaps a whole line?

lq.php?p=K1g&q=AWE We see Vulva Original as being like the first dildo. There are many sizes of dildo available today and we will have many smells available. There is already development going on with Vulva 18 and Vulva Exotic, as well as a very aroused scent for the bad boys. rq.png

Catch the entire interview with the designer on Viceland.com here. But a product of this sort opens up a whole range of possibilities.

lq.php?p=K1o&q=AWI Of course, with this on the shelves, how long until we have the scent of latex and/or semen in an asshole? rq.png

Here's what one video blogger has to say about the new scent:

Shame on your shame

It appears to me that this video blogger is using emotional arguments to attack this new scent. How very disappointing. As a sexuality educator I have spent over a decade arguing that the way a vulva naturally smells is very arousing. While this scent may not be appealing for everyone, our pheromones do indeed serve a very important purpose: Namely, they act as the most primal motivation of sexual attraction. I love that this perfume, in it's own way, seeks to normalize that concept!!! Sure, it may be just another product for sale, but if it helps women realize that they don't need to use floral/rain scented douche to be sexually desirable, I will welcome it.

In addition, to imply that men may not need to date/be sexual with women any longer because the combination of a Fleshlight with this perfume could somehow replace a woman is preposterous. The very same fallacy is often bandied about to dissuade women from purchasing dildos. Videos like this rely on the power of shame to push their beliefs on others. Let's get rid of the guilt people.

I don't know what video *you*

I don't know what video *you* watched, but I saw a straightforward and positive . First she mentioned a previous (and apparently foul smelling) alternative, then she described the product matter-of-factly. She even quoted a man who loves the product! That video may have convinced me to get some myself (pun definitely intended).

What emotional arguments are you referring to? Where did the video seem like an attack?

I do agree with one thing: vaginas smell fantastic. I can't speak for every man, but few things get me as whipped up as the scent of a woman. However, the video blogger never claimed that anything could "somehow replace a woman". Do you realize that you are inventing contentions out of thin air? I know that a Fleshlight is no more a replacement for a woman than a dildo is a replacement for a man. Depending on how you look at it, the Fleshlight could be seen as an expression of male sexual independence from women, and perhaps even as a deterrent to male adultery.

There's no need to soapbox your opinions or supposed credentials, especially over something as petty as this.

You're just a pugnacious feminist. Shame on you for needlessly haranguing us with your inappropriate rhetoric.
