According to AZCentral.com, residents of Tempe, Arizona claim that they are offended by a dead tree. The tree, located in the backyard of a home on East Dunbar, is apparently carved into the shape of a penis.

"They carved it, all by themselves it looks like," said neighborhood resident Susan Wood. "I'm a little bit speechless.” Though she admits that she can see the humor in the situation, she still believes it should be taken down.

According to neighbors, the tree was dead and unattractive before it was carved into a giant erect penis. It stands to attention at 8 feet tall in a residential backyard, but is visible to people walking by.

The City has received at least one anonymous complaint about the carved tree and issued the owner a violation notice for having a dead tree. Those who have time to complain about the phallic carving might also want to look into banning the penis-cactus and the Padunus Palm whose roots might give the Tempe phallus a run for its money.
