Ex-Madam To Run For NY Governor Seat

Kristin Davis, the so-called Manhattan Madam who went to jail for sleeping with New York governor Elliot Spitzer, may make her own run for the state's highest office this year, reports the New York Daily News.  Davis, calling herself "the first candidate in New York history to run while on probation," wants to legalize marijuana, prostitution, and gay marriage, and she wants to relax gun laws.  She's running as a Libertarian, in other words.

Initially, Davis planned to run merely to remind people that she spent four months in prison while Governor Spitzer didn't have to do any time at all.  But now she says she's serious.  Roger Stone, the Republican who first tipped people off to Spitzer's use of Davis's escort service, is helping her with her campaign.  Some Libertarians worry, however, that Stone is only using Davis to pull votes away from whoever the Democratic candidate might be.

Davis says she's highly qualified for the job:  "I was valedictorian of my high-school class. I worked 10 years in finance. I was vice president of a hedge fund. I went on to build a multimillion-dollar business from scratch."

She also has publicity down:  In order to get the required number of signatures to appear on the ballot, Davis and Stone plan to send clipboard-wielding Penthouse Pets out in Grand Central Station during rush hour.
