Young Women Talk About Sex (Video SFW)
Stay tuned for real talk about sex. Melissa Tapper Goldman’s new documentary film, Subjectified: Nine Young Women Talk About Sex, explores female sexuality from the genuine vantage point of nine young women. The film involves interviews with American women from different backgrounds who talk about their life experiences with sex and sexuality. A few of the topics addressed include sexually transmitted infections, relationships, unplanned pregnancy, social stigma, marriage, birth control, religion, virginity and pleasure.
“This project began as a simple question and a simple frustration. I thought I understood the motivations and pressures regarding girls’ sexuality within the community where I grew up, but I had no clue what sexuality meant for other women around the country.” writes Goldman. “The answers that I received to my questions in these interviews defied all of my expectations and the research that I did in preparation for the nine intense conversations. The stories were both more sophisticated and more powerful than what I had anticipated."
One goal of the film is to challenge sexual stereotypes and “to overwrite some of these associations, with something more real, more nuanced, deeper and more heartfelt.”
