Transgender Rights Denied in New Hampshire

Ignorance and fear have prevailed over transgender rights in New Hampshire on the same day that the State House voted to legalize gay marriage. HB 415 (appallingly nicknamed the “Bathroom Bill” by opponents) failed to pass by 172-157. What does this mean? It means that House lawmakers yesterday rejected a bill that would extend protection to transgender individuals under the state's anti-discrimination and hate-crimes laws.

The fact that this bill did not pass is a disappointment to say the least, but the implication behind its nickname, “The Bathroom Bill,” is truly disturbing. Opponents of the bill feared that it would be a carte blanche for predators to dress up in women’s clothes and stalk unsuspecting young girls and women in public restrooms. In other words, fear and ignorance have claimed another human right.

Sad

A bathroom issue transgender rights is not. Once again, people who know nothing of what transgender people face daily deny them teir protections.

We just have to keep on working.

Gennee

Are you really that ignorant NH

I am truely Imbarased for your part of this great country of ours to think that your house would think that Transgender issues and rights are no more that Bathroom ronde' views and to lump us in with predators is an out rage and highly discraceful to us....

Ignorance they say is bliss well I feel you must be the happiest so called representatives in the country with this load you just threw on the heap of misinformation and ignorant classification, listen to me if you will....

WE ( Transgendered ) individuals just want to know that we can work and live out a normal life as the gender we were meant to be without the harasment and bigotry once strewn at the doorsteps of the gay and lesbian community,I suppose now that race is no longer an issue and gay rights kicked us to the curb , we had to take over for them.... What I see is that the other groups finally were picked up out of the muck that society dumped them in and totally forgot about us...

Listen if we transition at work we loose our jobs are our rights to fair treatment in the workplace there NO, We get let go for some sorry excuse or forced to leave because of the ignorance of the work place is often times greater then that of societies , if our families find out of our transitions then we loose them and our friends as well .

This isn't a thing that can be lumped into any one set of parameters it's many things and many variances of things, I guess since we struggle our entire life trying to figure out why we are as we are and how can we just be happy within our own skin how in the world are you to have an ounce of insight into the trials and tribulations of the Gender Disphoric individuals that vote you into office.... Yeh thats right we Vote, Remember this the next time you want to stomp on us and call us predators in bathrooms..... This redhead is a little fired up about being called no more then a predator in a bathroom...

The Idialogical Views of the Christain Right might stop and clean the glass on their houses before they start chucking rocks towards our house, and forcing our group into the bathrooms as predators or mere miscreants saticfing some perverted fantacy ....
With this sort of thinking I am amazed that we made it out of the dark ages..

The constitution gives us rights and freedoms, are we to be denied these rights..... Apparently so, Apparently all we are is a menace to society a predator seeking the ill will of our fellow man, a paracite on the back of society to only be scrached out of mind...l just want you to know that Transgendered individuals are upstanding hard working and loving people just trying to make it to the next day without going out of our minds worring about how we are gona make the rent pay the exorbanant doctor bills that we have to pay out of our pockets because Insurance wont touch us once they find out your diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder, and how in the world can I keep from being killed by some Ignorant Bigot because he's to much of a man to be around the likes of us...

Then If we do manage to survive a brutal beating with our lives the police wont do any thing about it as they see it because of NO RIGHTS FOR TRANSGENDERED INDIVIDUALS ,WE Desirved it and we need to be taken into custody because were some sort of predator, misleading an innocent individual into believing we were something that society thinks we are not , but we know we are.

The dificulty here is that without Rights we are the minoraty to be disracefully treated as a miscreant, a deviant or as you so nicely catagorised us as bathroom predators....

Enough said I think , maybe this will enlighten you maybe not but there is no dening that you have been given one Transgendered womans thoughts and views one how I feel towards this Ignorant show of power of our representatives..... Stephani R.

Transgender rights

Here in Minnesota, a friend of mine recently acquired a new drivers license, in her new name, and in her new gender, with nothing more than a court ordered name change, and $25 bucks. She is, at the moment, pre-op.

As I understand it, this alone should give her legal protection. Let's hope that the full faith and credit clause would apply here, but then again, let's hope that she never has to use it.

Government perpetuates Societies Ignorance

Once again government is siding with societies hate and fear based in their ignorance and showing a lack of intelligence just as thoughs who hate and fear that which they have no knowledge and understanding of.
Those who govern clearly show they'd rather act and react from personal and organizational beliefs and ideologies in order to get reelected then up hold the Constitution this nation was founded upon.
They have chosen to act according to personal and organizational thoughts and feeling on ideas and concepts they don't have any knowledge and understanding of.Therefore hating and fearing out of their ignorance.
If our politicians truely wish for other nations around the world to follow Americas ideology of Freedom and Justice for all.It can't base decisions out of ignorance or allow personal and organizational thoughts and concepts to dictate the Constitution of the United States. For if they do,their telling the rest of the world that even America is unwilling to adhere to the Constitution it says it holds dear.
Ignorance is the enemy of Knowledge,Hate and fear is the enemy of love and peace.Think of that which was hated and feared 40 years ago because of societies ignorance and you'll see society is doing it again, perpetuating ignorance which causes hate and fear to grow.Showing humanities lack of intelligence opting to act and react out of ignorance instead of showing true intelligence by gaining knowledge and understanding of that which it doesn't.
Looking at it strictly from a political point of view their decision shows a lack of knowledge and understanding which shows a lack of intelligence and a disregard for the Constitution they say they hold dear.It seems clear why some nations would be leary of us.Why would they want to follow a nation that doesn't even abide by it's own concepts.
Sincerely,
Dee Tate

so if a guy is going to commit a crime?

So let me get this straight, if a guy is going to commit the crime of assault or rape he is willing to disregard the felony consequences of those crimes yet he is going to be too worried about being scolded, or at most a misdemeanor, for stepping into the wrong bathroom so he will go to all the trouble to dress up and likely look even more conspicuous just to try and 'sneek' into the women's can to commit the felonies? LOL to That!

New Hampshire HB-436

HB-436, the gay marriage bill, did NOT pass either. They kicked both bills on the same day... No rights for gays or transgenders at all. Seeing I am a NH resident that is Gay and Transgendered I guess I really have nothing. At the moment I am very upset and am not sure if I should just sell my house and move or fight the fight again next year... 4-23-09 is a dark day for both of our communities in NH.
