The British Home Office released a study this week showing that 1 in 7 people believe that in some circumstances, it is okay for a man to hit his wife or girlfriend for wearing "sexy of revealing clothes in public." People also considered it acceptable for a man to hit a woman who was "nagging or constantly moaning at him." About a quarter of the 1,065 people surveyed also thought that a woman should be held at least partly responsible if she was raped while wearing sexy or revealing clothing.
