British Police Screen Rape Film To Warn Holiday Party-Goers
British police in the town of Halifax plan to scare holiday partygoers this season by screening a short film about rape in the town center, reports the Halifax Courier. The newspaper describes the "hard-hitting short film" as "shocking," though they don't indicate exactly how it's shocking.
The film, which will be screened after 9PM, will hopefully combat sexual assaults in the region; the holiday season is prime time for rapists, according to police. West Yorkshire Chief Superintendant Barry South says: "We want everyone to have a good time during their nights out over the coming weeks and then to make sure they get home safely." Superintendent South also advises that "vulnerable women" drink responsibly and avoid binge drinking.
For the second year, police in West Yorkshire are also itroducing a print campaign encouraging people to party safely and watch out for fake taxi drivers, who lure drunk girls into bogus cabs and then attack them.
"Victims of sexual assault can be confident that when the police answer their call for help, they will be put first," says Detective Inspector Mark Gaunt from the region's rape investigation unit. His advice to holiday revellers: "Stay with a group of trusted friends, keep drinking under control, and make sure you are able to assert yourself properly. Have an enjoyable night out."

Why the music?
It's a good step, though I would have preferred if they'd forgone the cheesy music. Maybe it's just me but I cringe when I hear music like that added to make a message more "poignant."
