Sofia Bothorp, a member of Sweden's Green Party, has scandalized the nation in the name of freedom of speech. While attending a meeting on what it means to be Swedish, the politician declared that Swedishness includes being able to “lick pussy in the morning and suck cock in the evening if you want to.” She further noted that the tradition of freedom of expression in the Scandinavian country allows her to make jokes about both God's "impotence" and Allah's "little dick."

Critics immediately assailed Bothorp for her choice of examples, some referring to them as a "low water mark" in Swedish politics. "I said it in the heat of the moment and it just slipped out, but I think it's important that the point I was trying to make doesn't get lost," she told Swedish newspaper The Local. Bothorp emphasized the need to recognize that Sweden is no longer a homogenous country. "We in Sweden are sometimes afraid of defending values like freedom of speech. But it isn't worth much if we don't stand up for it, and the fact that I can say these things means that our system actually works," she told reporters. "I mean, I'm not going to be indicted for saying what I did. And the diversity we have here is a prerequisite for retaining a high threshold for tolerance." Indeed, that is a mouthful.
