VH1 Locks Sex Addicts Up In A House Together
This week VH1 announced the cast of its forthcoming reality series Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew, which we first told you about last spring. The series, which will premiere November 1, follows MTV Networks fixture Drew Pinsky as he counsels eight sex addicts forced to live in a house together for twenty-one days.
Pinsky made his television debut in the mid-nineties as host of MTV's late-night sex advice show Loveline. More recently, he's been putting allegedly famous people through drug rehab, on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew and, more recently, Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House.
Sex Rehab's full cast list after the jump:
- Former Skid Row drummer Phil Varone, who now does standup
- British film director/playwright Duncan Roy
- Professional wakeboarder James "Jamie" Lovett
- Porn ferformer Jennifer Ketcham/Penny Flame
- Former porn performer Kendra Jade Rossi
- Playboy playmate/Colin Farrell sex tape co-star Nicole Narain
- Former Miss Teen Oregon/Playboy Playmate Kari Ann Peniche
- Actress/model/Playmate Amber Smith. (Smith has already starred both on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.)
Photos of all the cast members looking very earnest are here, if you're interested.
VH1 did a decent job of casting by putting an (almost) equal number of men and women for this show. On the other hand, it would be nice if maybe some of their television shows weren't completely centered around people who are sort of vaguely tied to famous people. (One of these people used to be engaged to Aaron Carter, for instance. Another one had something to do with Kevin Federline. How thrilling! Oh, wait.)
It also seems a little bit wrong that the three guys on the show are a drummer, a playwright, and a surfer, whereas the five women selected to go through rehab are all mainly known for taking their clothes off for money. Also, three Playmates seems a little excessive. Why couldn't they have cast a male porn star? Or a female athlete? Or just some regular people that aren't necessarily trying to be famous? It's not like they don't exist, after all.
