Some Bushes Are Really Big - Mow The Lawn!

We just don't see this ad playing in Alabma or anywhere else in the US for that matter.  Which is odd when you think about the how the fashion is to trim or shave and the natural, 'un-mown", look is frowned upon.

The video features a cast of young women singing:

Mow it!
Do it!
Cut it!
Trim it!
Some bushes are really big
Some gardens are mighty small.

They are not talking about back yard hedges.  This is an ad from Wilkinsons Sword, owned by Energizer who also own Schick in the US,  exhorting women to "mow the lawn".    We never knew Energizer had it in them, perhaps they should do an ad with the Energizer Bunny coming to the aid of a woman with no batteries for a vibrator, on second thoughts maybe not.

Interestingly the ads for the Philips/Norelco bodygroom did run in the US suggesting that men gain an extra "optical inch" by mowing their lawn.

...exalting women to "mow the lawn"

The word is "exhorting." Exalting means to elevate, to raise, or to become prominent or well-known.

I've seen something similar

I've seen something similar to this commercial but it is much more subtle. I'm not sure it's the same manufacturer/product, but the ad subtly shows women going about their daily lives but they're near bushes and trees and whatnot which shape-change to a more trimmed and smooth version after they go near it. Takes a couple views to really pick up on it.

You just gotta love...

... the not-so-subtle racial stereotyping. As if the excessive, artificial cheeriness of the whole thing weren't grating enough.

I'd like to see that Energizer Bunny vibe ad, though. :-P

The thickness of one's pubic hair is genetically determined and is a secondary racial trait. Implicitly acknowledging that in the commercial is no more racist than targeting different types of hair gel to different ethnicities or noting that some clothing colors look better with different skin tones.

We can still love each other regardless of race, without insisting that we all be the same. The multi racial heritage and diversity of our culture should be embraced, not treated like it does not exist.
