Procreation Vacations: Resorts Pay You to Get Pregnant

There are rewards programs for just about everything, ranging from free flights for frequent fliers to special savings for supermarket shoppers. Now some Caribbean resorts are offering conception credits for couples who conceive while on vacation. All you need to earn the credit (aside from a baby bump) is a doctor's note stating that you likely conceived during your stay at the resort. And what do you get out of the deal—aside, of course, from a lot of sleepless nights and impending college tuition bills? Well, couples who vacation at the Westin Resort on Aruba between September 1 and December 19 and become pregnant during their stay will receive a $300 voucher toward their next vacation at the resort. We wonder if the hotel provides a free nanny on your return trip or if couples are encouraged to use the time to make a baby brother or sister for their little Caribbean souvenir.

To help nature along a bit, the resorts offer special foods and elixirs to get couples in the mood and to enhance fertility. "My husband and I thought that we would go on the vacation and learn all these nice fertility secrets and we'd be practicing them for a number of months for them to work," said Lucinda Hughes, who conceived the day she got back from her trip to the Bahamas. "We were stunned. There's definitely some truths to the foods and the elixirs." Experts say that you don't need to drop a bundle at resort in order to come home with a little bundle of joy. Reducing the amount of stress in your life can increase your chances of conceiving. While you could reduce your stress levels at home, it seems so much easier and more fun to relax poolside with a fruity cocktail. But if all-inclusive now means coming home with a baby, we'll skip the fertility bar, thank you very much.
