Man Fired Over Wife's Porn Career

Scott Janke (pictured right) has been the town manager of Fort Myers Beach, FL, since March of 2008. That is, he was the town manager until an emergency meeting on Tuesday, July 21, at which he was summarily fired 'without cause.' The reason for the firing: Mr. Janke's wife performs in adult films under the name Jazella Moore (pictured below left). Mayor Larry Kiker, who convened the emergency meeting, has said publicly that neither Mr. Janke nor his wife has done anything wrong or illegal. "If you look at it, the man didn't do anything illegal," said Kiker. "But it's obvious what the issue is." Could the issue be narrowmindedness? Prudishness? Or is it just good old-fashioned sanctimoniousness?

It seems that an article published on the Adult Industry News website 'outed' the porn star Jazella Moore as Anabela Mota Janke, the wife of Scott Janke. After receiving several media inquiries, the mayor decided to call a city council meeting. Mr. Janke was not present, but the city attorney was. The council voted 5-0 to terminate Janke's contract, which contains a clause allowing the council to fire him without cause. Mr. Janke will receive a severance package that includes six month's salary ($50,000) plus health benefits. Mayor Kiker made it clear that the termination had nothing to do with Janke's performance. '"What we're reacting to is the situation that the issue puts the town in, how effectively can we govern," Kiker said. "We don't need any distractions." However, city council member Bob Raymond said, “In these types of jobs, trust is a very important thing. If you lose that, you’re losing a big thing."

Janke says that he's at somewhat of a loss about what to do next. "At this point I don't have a reaction," he said. "My wife and I are talking and we will figure these things out." When asked about the city council discussion of his personal life affecting his job, Janke replied, "I have no idea. I wasn't there, I have no comment on that subject."  Unfortunately for Mr. Janke, it seems that other people had plenty to say on the subject, regardless of whether or not they knew what they were talking about.

Porn transitions

I heard of a porn star that transitioned from that life, got a degree and became a teacher. When it was discovered she had a history in porn, she was fired. (Sorry I do not remember her name).

Hypocrites

The American hypocritical state of mind never ceases to amaze me. They don't have a problem with watching porn themselves, but if someone WORKS in the adult industry, they and their entire family are suddenly 'personas non-grata'. Stupidity really does have no limits.

Taboo is.

Porn in the United States is like breathing. Everybody does it, but nobody talks about it much. See, most 'merkins think that the skin-arts are degrading to the practitioner. So practitioners are, by definition, degraded. And do you want some horribly degraded person teaching your kids?

You know how women who show a little skin (like their forearms) are considered "whores" by the fundie Islamics? Well, that's pretty much how most Americans view (ahem) ex-whores,
